Public Art and the Planning Process Seminars - Dates for 2008/09

ixia is running a series of seminars throughout England to deliver guidance on the content of a Supplementary Planning Document for public art.

ixia has developed this guidance in response to Government’s changes to the planning process and ixia’s review of the ways that local authorities in England secure public art via the planning process. These seminars:

  • place public art within the context of national, regional and local planning and other policies;
  • describe the importance and creation of a vision for public art;
  • identify sources of evidence that support the perceived benefits of public art;
  • identify a definition and principles of good practice for public art;
  • define and recommend practical actions that are integrated within the planning process that will enable good practice to take place.

Who should attend: artists; arts, public art, planning and regeneration officers from local authorities; public art consultants; planning consultants; design professionals and public and private sector commissioners.

Public Art Evaluation Toolkit Seminars -
the last seminar for 2008 has now taken place!

ixia has been running a series of seminars throughout England to deliver a Toolkit for evaluating the impact of public art. Intended for use by all stakeholders in a public art commission, the overall aim is to increase mutual awareness of diverse agendas and desired outcomes of a public art commission. The Toolkit will assist users to:

  • carry out an appraisal of the feasibility of a public art commission;
  • maximise the potential of a public art commission and identify different goals;
  • identify and agree the outcome measures that are appropriate to assess impact;
  • agree systems for collecting, storing, analysing and reporting on data gathered.

Unfortunately, the last 2008 seminar has taken place but do keep checking the website for further information about forthcoming training seminars in 2009 or join our mailing list to be the first to know!
